Afon Tawe Ministry Area - Reporting

Ministry Areas (MAs) in the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon are required to produce reports to ensure accountability, demonstrate effective governance, and comply with statutory and Church in Wales requirements. The Ministry Area Council (MAC), the legal governing body for each MA, is responsible for various functions, including guiding best practices, building the church body, and ensuring sufficient funds for safeguarding and health and safety. Regular financial reports help control finances and monitor share payments.

  • Accountability: Reports ensure that Ministry Areas are accountable to their members and to the wider diocese. This includes demonstrating compliance with legal and statutory requirements, as well as being well-run and effective.

  • Governance: The MAC, which is responsible for overall governance, needs to ensure that all sub-committees are operating effectively and reporting to them.

  • Financial Transparency: Reports help monitor financial health, ensure that funds are used appropriately, and allow for regular financial reporting.

  • Compliance: Ministry Areas must comply with statutory accounting and reporting requirements, as well as the specific requirements of the Church in Wales.

  • Effective Mission and Ministry: By providing a framework for accountability and good governance, reports contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Church in Wales's mission and ministry.
